2019 is an election year, so there will be a lot of turmoil that might occur in the economic and political world. It is undeniable that market risk is one investment risk that also needs to be understood. Recognize future investment trends and risks so that the selection of investment assets is still in accordance with the family's financial plan.

  1. Stock Holding
Goldman SachA strategic expert, predicts that in 2019 the rate of return on investment in the stock market will only be one digit. "Cash will be a competitive asset compared to stocks for the first time in several years," said analysts at Goldman Sach, when the event led by David Kostin, wrote in a study presented on Monday, November 19, 2018, ago.
But if you are an investor who invests in stock-based assets, then 2019 is predicted by some analysts to be the year of the turning point after the 2018 JCI experienced a bearish trend. For long-term investments, 2019 is the time to buy and save blue-chip stocks that are needed to meet long-term financial goals such as pension funds or other financial goals that still have a period of more than 10 years. Understand that the risk of price fluctuations will be an opportunity to look for future price increases.
  2. Precious metal
In general, gold in the form of precious metals is an appropriate asset as a survival asset. Evidenced by the increase in gold prices throughout 2018, which has reached nearly Rp. 21,000.00 per year or exceeding 3.2% from the previous year. Therefore, for those of you who want to invest in precious metals, it is very suitable as part of diversified investment portfolios.
  3. Bonds and Sukuk
For those of you who want to invest but are still worried about the risk of fluctuations in stock-based assets, the selection of investment instruments such as bonds and Sukuk can be a good choice. With a coupon value greater than the deposit interest rate, and the return guaranteed by the government, this investment instrument can be a promising alternative to short-term investment choices. For households, the choice of fixed income instruments is the ORI and Retail Savings Bonds. Meanwhile, investors who are looking for sharia-based assets can choose Retail Sukuk and Savings Sukuk.
  4. Mutual Fund
The investment trend in mutual funds is expected to continue to increase in 2019 and better than in previous years. Millennial awareness of the importance of investment and financial literacy will make mutual funds a favorite choice because they are easy, cheap, and affordable. Based on statistical data from the OJK, as of July 2018, the total assets under management of the mutual fund industry in Indonesia reached Rp497.69 trillion. That number is increasing by 8.7% compared to the total industry AUM at the end of last year valued at Rp457.50 trillion.
The choice of mutual funds should be based on your financial goals. For short-term goals that are under 1 year, you can use money market mutual funds. Meanwhile, for long-term goals over 10 years, mutual funds can be used. For financial purposes between these durations, potential investors can choose fixed-income mutual funds and mixed mutual funds.
  5. Property
With so many housing projects being worked on by state-owned companies, it is expected that homeownership will be more affordable. The interesting thing is that the LRT and MRT in Jakarta will start operating around April 2019. This will certainly add value to the property and also re-ignite investment interest in a property for places or areas that are traversed or close to transportation at this time.

Whatever type of investment is chosen, it should be adjusted according to financial capacity, time frame, and risk profile. If there is still confusion, it never hurts to consult it for financial planning.
